Spread of Fetal Membrane Infection to Mother - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing

Depicts spread of infection from the fetal membranes into the mother's bloodstream. The first image shows a mid-sagittal (cut-away) view of the pregnant mother with labels for the muscular wall of the uterus, placenta, umbilical cord, amnionic sac, amnionic fluid, infection of the fetal membranes, vena cava, iliac vein, hypogastric vein and uterine vein. The second illustration shows the spread of infection to the mother via the placenta and uterine veins.
